In my opinion great value for money and a reliable little camera. I would have given it 5 stars but this camera doesn’t have the lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is common in most Canon cameras and I had to purchase a separate set of AA rechargeable batteries.

We take it when we go cycling, walking, or pop it in a handbag or pocket. We have now owned it for a month and it has been a great success. We would have preferred a viewfinder, but have managed with the screen only sighting. It has performed well in a number of different conditions, and gives bright sharp colours. It took some time to master the timing of the shutter for action shots, and the usefulness of the "fireworks" mode still alludes us, as it does on our other camera! We have found the camera easy to use, the menu functions are clear and the screen display easy to read. Start-up time is minimal and it is a convenient size and shape for our needs. Remember too that this is a pretty cheap camera! I was looking for a reasonably priced, small, “second” camera, to replace an Olympus that was showing signs of age. We take it when we go cycling, walking, or pop it in a handbag or pocket. We have now owned it for a month and it has been a great success. We would have preferred a viewfinder, but have managed with the screen only sighting. It has performed well in a number of different conditions, and gives bright sharp colours. It took some time to master the timing of the shutter for action shots, and the usefulness of the “fireworks” mode still alludes us, as it does on our other camera! We have found the camera easy to use, the menu functions are clear and the screen display easy to read. Start-up time is minimal and it is a convenient size and shape for our needs. Remember too that this is a pretty cheap camera! All in all, if you are looking for a easy to use, compact camera and are on a budget, I don’t see how you could go wrong with this Canon.

This little camera is the perfect ‘slip in the pocket’ extra camera for occasions when you are doing something active, don’t want to carry extra weight or expensive equipment, but have an eye for a picture and don’t like missing things which are visually exciting, (action shots from a kayak?) Yes, it’s basic, but you can still have a little fun with ISOs, white balance, colour options and fun scenes… The foliage setting, used at macro, produces incredibly artistic flower studies…razor sharp at the point of focus but with a shallow depth of field which makes for a dramatic blurring of the background. The results are amazing. It's a little heavier than some other digital cameras that are available but this seems to add more to the fact that it is quality and not just made for a particular market. The touch screen both for viewing and taking pictures makes it a winner. Although Nikon is regarded more to the professional market this camera is easy for anybody to use. The results are amazing. It’s a little heavier than some other digital cameras that are available but this seems to add more to the fact that it is quality and not just made for a particular market. The touch screen both for viewing and taking pictures makes it a winner. Also as an added bonus I found this camera cheapest with Amazon.

I have never used a digital camera before and found it very easy to handle. It fits neatly in my bag, even in the camera case and is ready to use instantly. There is a slight pause between actually taking the photo but once you get used to this its fine. I found the zoom great as it allowed me to decide the best shot at the flick of a switch. I have recently bought this camera after reading several reviews and found it to be a fantastic camera for the money. I have never used a digital camera before and found it very easy to handle. It fits neatly in my bag, even in the camera case and is ready to use instantly. There is a slight pause between actually taking the photo but once you get used to this its fine. I found the zoom great as it allowed me to decide the best shot at the flick of a switch. All in all I am really pleased with it and am really glad I chose this particular model.

The impressive zoom capability is also a bonus. <br/>The controls are simple to operate. So far it has been used as a simple point and shoot with very good results. <br/>BE AWARE there is NO memory card included with this camera. <br/>I bought a Samsung 8gb and a card reader at the same time, both of which work very well and connect painlessly with my mac OSX, as does the CD manual. <br/>On the basis of only a couple of days use I can highly recommend. After much research I ordered this in preference to the Panasonic tz7 because of the many negative reviews re the fragility of the Panasonic screen and the cost of spare batteries.
The wide angle lens is a joy to use and the few pictures I have taken so far in both daylight and with flash have been of excellent quality. The impressive zoom capability is also a bonus.
The controls are simple to operate. So far it has been used as a simple point and shoot with very good results.
BE AWARE there is NO memory card included with this camera.
I bought a Samsung 8gb and a card reader at the same time, both of which work very well and connect painlessly with my mac OSX, as does the CD manual.
On the basis of only a couple of days use I can highly recommend. There are cheaper cameras out there for sure, but this one ticks every box for me and was worth paying the little extra for.
